So today is the official ultrasound due date, but our midwife says the actual due date is April 1. No matter how much sleep Natasha gets, she always feels like she just ran a marathon. Her belly has gotten a lot bigger in the past 2 weeks and the baby is fully dropped. There is no shortage of movement either... baby Colin reminds Natasha that he's still there every 15-30 seconds.
I'll be taking a week off starting the day Natasha decides it's time to head to the hospital. We've heard stories of labour taking from 3 hours to 60 hours, so hopefully we're on the shorter side. Canadian North (my work) is having a baby shower / pizza party for us after Colin is born which is very nice of them.
Natasha's Mom, Therese, has her flight booked to come to Yellowknife on April 3 and she'll stay for around 10 days. Also, Natasha's sister Cynthia and neice Sadie will be coming up around April 20 for maybe a week. It will be nice to have some extra help with the baby. We'll visit Newfoundland in mid-July for a few weeks and will get to see my side of the family then.
We are also very fortunate that our church has a service where someone will cook our dinners for a full week after Colin is born. This will give Natasha a break since she cooks 99% of the meals.
We went to the book store today and bought six board books, mostly Northern themes, with very nice stories and pictures. Tonight was our first storybook reading. We're thinking about buying a book a month to make a nice collection.
